DF 65 Autumn/Winter Series 1
Jan 6th 2018
What a delight to have B rig conditions on a rain free day for a change, as that was what greeted us on arrival at the lake, for this the first event of the New Year. Although it was spoilt for some with breakdowns, namely: – Garry-rudder failure late on, Mike-winch failure late on, and Ken’s winch which failed prior to us getting under way, so he took out the club boat, but that let him down later on with a faulty switch.
For the rest of us, it was a day of great racing and some close finishes, on a triangular course which was set. We completed 10 races at a leisurely pace, and decided that was enough as the temperature really dropped late in the day.
Tony appeared just after the lunch break to take a few photos, and was persuaded to join in for a few races, taking over Bob’s boat, he actually won the final race of the day, so hopefully he has the bug again for the 65, and will become a regular on Saturdays.
On the whole, the new format for Saturdays, was a great success, and should work well for the Dragons, with the 95 up next on 20th Jan.
Tim was once again top of the tree with 5 bullets and 3 seconds in the day, followed by Uncle Derek and Chris.
Thanks goes to Peter for doing the scoring duties.
And a special mention to Garry for contributing B rig, sail bag and servos for the club boat.
