DF 65 Winter Series 1

20th October 2018
A good turnout of twelve skippers made it a great start for the first event in our Winter Series. A fine dry day for a change with a light breeze, was an ideal opportunity for those who had them to try out the A+ rig, now allowed in events at the club. Only Garry and Bob out of the twelve so far had acquired the sail, and the difference in performance was reflected in the results, with Garry taking nine bullets out of the eleven raced. John P as usual was well placed using the stock A sail, with Bob close behind.
We completed eleven races at a leisurely pace with a break in-between for a brew. On what was akin to a pentagon shape course of two laps, changing the start line a few times for the wind change.
All got through the day without major failures, except for Ken with winch problems in his second race, this put him out for the day, and was the last thing he needed having already arrived a little late due to a start time mix up, but he kindly stayed on and recorded the finishes for us.
Our next DF 65 event in the Series is on December 1st at 12 noon
