25th July 2019
The thunder and lightning passed through, just in time for the start of the first event in the series. Obviously some had seen the forecast, and had been put off by the rain we experienced in the late afternoon, as only six skippers turned out.
With a light breeze of about 6mph and quite humid, we set out on the A+ sail, to tackle a sausage shape course. After four races the wind had picked up a little, and time was given to change to the A for those that wished.
Eric struggled most of the event with intermittent electrical problems but soldiered on, Ian finished early with sore knees, and Tim called time because of the cold, he was seen leaving with his coat on, that left three and a half of us to carry on playing. There were no such problems for Garry, who persisted all night with the A+ and mastered it to a tee, taking seven bullets from the eight raced.
John for once had an off night, and Bob just edged him out taking second spot by a point.
Many thanks to Darren for doing the scoring.
Our next outing for the 65 is on 8th August 6.30 pm start, as next week’s event is cancelled, due to the National Championships taking place.
