A glance at the results table is a reflection of the less than friendly conditions which greeted seven skippers with just three left on the water by the end of the customary eight races.
Initially the fleet was split between B rig and C rig which proved successful for Derek (sailing Chris Haworth’s new yacht) with yours truly and Chris C with the B rig.
A break for a change of rig to Cs proved to be the right choice although Chris persevered with his B rig and Walter had no choice as a C rig is now on his shopping list. Yours truly suffered a mast stub breakage and continued with the RO duties and a blast with Bob’s.
The breakages continued, including winch failure for Walter. On the positive side Bob J’s yacht was flying and even allow for John Plant and myself creating an average score of two, he was still a clear winner as the yacht took five firsts with Bob doing three of them.
All credit to the fleet that were not blessed with what can only be said as a difficult howler of a gusting wind in the worst possible direction.
