DF95’s Series Results

Round 5 of the series.

The evenings sailing was preceded by a thunderstorm and heavy hail. This dampened the wind to a flat calm but fortunately the wind swung and competitors were faced with good sailing conditions through the evening. There was some good racing throughout the evening and as can be seen from the scores the racing was close and competitive. Mark Rose emerged as the overall winner after.

Round 4 of the series saw six skippers turned out on a windy rainy evening, with a new start time of 6.30pm. An ever
shifting wind, gusting and coming from a poor direction made course setting difficult, and the
course had to be changed a few times. We managed eight races on the night, all on B rig,
and Gordon Bayliff once again as last week was top of the pile, taking six bullets and
finishing well ahead of the rest.

Round 3 of the series was sailed on Tuesday 28th April. At last competitors were faced with a decent breeze blowing from the north-east enabling a course to be set with a long beat to windward. Unfortunately towards the end of racing the breeze picked up and in order to protect the yachts from damage a halt was called after 7 races with Gordon Bayliff the overall winner.

Round 2 of the series took place on Tuesday. Competitors were faced with a difficult breeze bouncing off the sea wall bank resulting in many holes in the wind and making tacking difficult. The event was won by Chris Chatfield who sailed consistently throughout the evening.

Round1: Great start to the series with over half the fleet out sailing. It was a light westerly swinging northerly and dropping through the evening. Only able to complete 7 races with 4 individual winners. Congratulations to the overall winner Gordon Bayliff.
