A glorious days sailing turning in a battle between the two guests from Birkenhead and Fleetwood.

The top four were swapping places throughout the day with some fantastic, mid A rig, shifty conditions. the full length of the lake was used in a spreader gate course making for over 9,000 steps

Martin Roberts edging out Derek P for the win with a consistent performance in the afternoon.

Robbie and Mark tying in third place.

The racing was fun, respectful and enjoyable. No shouting was heard all day!

Strong performances from Mike Drew and Eric Austwick with the whole fleet increasing in speed. Paul M having winch difficulties in the afternoon session.

Big shout out to Bob Jolly for standing out there in the cold scoring !

A great sailing day out there. Mid A rig almost down the lake. 

15 competitors made the start line showing how strong the fleet is with a few away at the DF TT. 

To the racing? Captain Bob set a full length course starting 3/4 of the way down the lake  setting a shifty beat upto the buoy under the bridge. Followed by a long runs down to a gate/ spreader at rosey corner. 

The racing was fun, competitive and tough. 

Mark dominated the first 5 races fighting off Andrew Taylor and Chris Howarth. 

Race 6 and 7 Mark got impeded when leading allowing Andrew Taylor to sneak two wins. 

Overall mark taking the day, from an improving Andrew Taylor and a steady Chris Howarth. 

Shout out to Bob Jones making his sailing comeback and getting a fourth place after injury/ illness. 

Racing ended at race 9 as a quorum was struck that everyone got cold 🤣

Well the wind was awful…. Light and all over the place bouncing over the “hotel.” Racing was tricky and course setting very difficult for captain Eric.

8 races were sailed in what can only be described as holey wind which often resulted in “whoever got the next puff” winning the race.

Derek sailing his SV tuning it for the upcoming season took the hours beating Mark to first who was testing out an Alioth.

Neil Davies taking third after a storming last 2 races.

Again, good to see another big turnout given a few absentees.

8 races in B rig down the lake (sailing heaven) then 4 races in A rig switching over the steps corner.

Some competitive racing across the fleet.

The wind was well shocking. In the words of the vane skippers the “hotel winds.” Very often the first beat became a stage race not requiring a tack.

Derek started strongly before taking a break to get warm. Paul Middleton overall winning the day with a strong finish.

Mark taking second after a fairly erratic day and Garry Benson taking 3rd with a strong performance on his return to the 95s.
