Fairly low turnout due to awful weather conditions (just a reminder it is summer)
Tonight’s IOM results. The wind was a little strange and flicking in different directions
Overall Rob dominated proceeding with Gordon chasing him hard.
A much improved turnout, time to keep it going.
Reminder – it appears that there’s enough interest for IOM sailing on Saturday so 10am at the club?
1st Rob Walsh
2nd Gordon Bayliff
3rd John Sharman
4th Garry Benson
5th Ian Hawtin
6th Walter Audley
7th Mark Rose (missed 5 races)
8th Eric Austwick (missed 7 races)

Well what a day. Summer? What’s summer?
Upon arrival the wind was strong blowing a solid B Rig almost down the lake. The course was set having two lengths of the lake (yes a lot of steps).
Rocking up 13k steps and 6.5 miles on the Garmin reinforces how privileged we are to sail at Fleetwood!
The chop was ever growing and in the end the racing turned into the Volvo Ocean race
To the racing, race 1 was a battle between Mark and Gordon with the fleet in B Rig. Race 2 Terry stormed out the gates and took his first ever IOM race victory at Fleetwood!!
In the middle section, John Eric, Derek and Tony stayed in B rig whilst the fleet went to C Rig which paid off boosting their scores with the long runs on show.
After lunch, the above individuals stayed in B rig but it didn’t pay off this time. Gordon, who had a Tuesday night practice in similar conditions shows that practice pays off and flew round taking 5 on the bounce in C rig.
A good days sailing, the proposal is to hold a pop up on the 15th with a few visitors showing interest.

What a glorious afternoon and evening for sailing!!! Both DF65s sailed sailing in a stiff B Rig wind almost straight down the lake. Where is better in the work to sail on nights like that (despite being a bit chilly)
The DF65s, again was a tussle between Olly and Paul – this time Olly edging out Paul. It appears to be a weekly battle in the DF65s between the two of them.
The DF95s were well turned out tonight with a dozen yachts making it to the water. Overall, Mark dominated the evening session with some comfortable victories, but was pushed hard by Olly and the others in glorious sailing conditions. Ian edging Paul to third.
Big thanks to Bob J for the scores

Starting with the IOMs. It was a pretty miserable night and before the start it was a toss up between A and B rig.
Four took part in informal sailing. Overall Eric (the flying fifteen) finished all races and demonstrated his much improved sailing. Derek’s boat breaking after after few race wins under the control of Shaun making the trip up north
1. Eric 2. Olly 3. Peter Iles 4. Derek/ Shaun P
Next, the DF95s. a good turnout for the 3pm start. Paul taking the honours however there was some close racing. Paul and Olly are battling all evening with Paul nicking ahead at the finish line each time.
Mark turned up a little late, but as he took race 4 and was 5 yards from winning the fifth – rudder servo packed up for the night.
Strong results across the fleet showing improvements in the standard given the C rig conditions
Thanks to Bob for being race officer

Finally a steady turnout for the 65s with 6 participants. The wind again was horrible, flicks and dead patches everywhere.
Mark struggling to set a course as race office for the evening sailing. Paul M again coming out victorious with a few different race winners.

15/06 – IOM Pop up event to be organised
There were 15 entries representing the following Clubs:
Fleetwood, Gosport, Hampton Court, Leeds & Bradford, Levenhall and the Vintage Model Yacht Group.
On both days the wind was extremely light from the North at race commencement, then gradually increasing in strength blowing from the N West, giving ideal top suit sailing conditions, with most skippers starting to use spinnakers.
Eight heats were sailed on Saturday and the remaining 7 heats completed by 4-00 pm on Sunday.
