Saturday 8th November 2025 Forester Trophy Vane 36R

A record entry for our Club Racing series was received with 9 yachts taking part. The wind was classic Fleetwood conditions from the West and moderate strength, so most yachts were in their 2nd suits of sails. Unfortunately we were again short of mates, so the bye boat skipper and other skippers helped each other to ensure that both banks of the lake had sufficient cover.

After about 4 heats the wind strength  reduced so some skippers changed their rigs to top suits of sails. After 6 heats the light was fading so just important resails were taken so that a race winner could be decided. As some skippers had not had a bye, results were given as % of possible points sailed for.

Four competitors took part, 2 sailing Vintage boats and 2 sailing Classic boats. Racing started after competitors stood for the 2 minutes Remembrance Sunday tribute at 11-00 am.

Today the wind was light and from the South East, so difficult sailing conditions and it rained all day.

The leaders after the 9 heats were:

Lewis Wyeth 42 points, Shaun Wyeth 39 points and Peter Whiteside 35 points.

Most of the competitors met for a meal at the North Euston Hotel on the Saturday evening.

IOM Sunday Club

Horrible wind, but good fun!

Beautiful sunshine, decent fleet, terrible wind direction!

The racing throughout the day was well mannered and some good banter across the fleet.

Olly (Sedici) sailed well to win the day edging Mark (Alioth) and Derek (Dead Reckoning).

A guest appearance by Peter Whiteside sailing Tonys spare Lintel (not on the results) and Rob Johnson breaking in his new Sedici.

The wind was coming over the sandbank leading to a number of lottery races in varying strengths of wind from nothing, to a stiff blow!
