DF95 Northern District Championship

What started with a flat calm northerly wind, turned into almost perfect sailing weather during the day, resulting in C Rigs straight down the lake.

Full report to follow but the prizes:

1st John Tushingham

2nd Peter Baldwin

3rd Mark Rose

R6M Day 1 Results

Light winds to start with…. But the wind straightened down the lake.

Overall Shaun dominated the racing.

Mark and Graeme having a battle for second and third place making up the podium.

Mark borrowing Olly’s “other” R6M in its first ever race

IOM and DF95 results

A Low turnout for Tuesdays IOMs. A strong C Rig ensued, dominated by Eric and his Sedici.

The great British weather didn’t help Thursday sailing either. Competitors for the DF65s mutually agreed to not go out in the bitter wind and rain.

But 5 hardy souls with their DF95 went out to face the elements in C/D rig, completing 5 races.

Smithy taking his first race victory!!!

Vane 36R

Only 3 entries for this due to regular competitors attending away RC events and others on holiday.

At start up time Top suits seemed appropriate, but during the first heat the wind strengthened so changes down to 2nd suits were carried out. We had no mates for the other bank, so the bye boat skipper had to try and look after both competing yachts. The wind was blowing initially from the SW, giving a long leg then some guying required going to windward. It then straightened giving a 3 or 4 leg beat. After lunch the wind strengthened again and 3rd suits were required. Due to lack of mates and athletic skippers, beats only were taken for the 2nd round.

DF65 and DF95 Results

The first Thursday sailing of the year – the new format of DF65 and DF95 in the same day. Considering the weather and after Easter, the turnout was pretty good for both classes.

The racing revolved around Paul and Olly across the day taking a win and a second each.

17 races in a day….. will you be attending the next one? Big shout out to BOb Jolly for scoring all afternoon producing live time results….. no pencil and paper needed tonight!
