IOM – Tuesday Night Evening Rnd 1

The first evening sail of the year. 6pm start …… mark acting as race officer.

Numbers slightly lower than usual due to Easter but we were joking by Alan and George Bennett from Etherow, who were on their way home from their holidays.

Overall it was a good evenings sail with all boats finishing in a pack, with a steady A Rig breeze which was trying to straighten throughout the night.

Overall Alan B sailed consistently well through you the evening taking the victory. Well done to George who took the last two races sailing a TS2.

All good practice for the nationals in Poole for the remaining Fleetwood members.

R36

There were 6 entries which was good considering 3 of our “regulars” were unavailable.

The wind was from the S E, making trimming of the yachts very difficult. Most of the fleet were in A Rigs. One round was sailed. Due to the absence of Mates, Skippers helped each other.

However, despite the above difficulties, all appeared to enjoy the fleet’s first event of the year.

We were pleased to welcome new competitors into the 36R fleet, Olly Murray and his daughter, Scarlet.

IOM 9/3/24

We were blessed with Fleetwood at almost its finest. Wind straight down the lake, towards the Top end of B rig for the most part.

We welcomed visitor number 42, who nicked the day after a tussle with Rob. Derek, Mark and Olly kept the pressure on the top 2 ensuring that any mistakes were punished

12 races sailed, in great sailing conditions. Big thanks to Paul Fishwick for scoring

IOM Winter Series 24/012

What start calm, turned into a good down the lake A Rig. Numbers slightly lower than normal due to other events being on but still a good turnout.

7 yachts hitting the water and 10 races sailed. Peter Iles achieving back to back series victories with his Britpop!

Ian Sinclair in second and Mike Drew pushing him hard!

DF65 Winter Series Rnd 5

A light shifty wind in A+ you could be first off the start and last at the windward mark

Olly taking the win, despite only two race victories! Proving consistency was key, pipping Derek in the last race to take the win

Paul making up the podium, getting some 65 practice in before Sweden

A really good turnout for the 65s

Close racing throughout the fleet with six different race winners.

Mark borrowing Olly’s spare boat before having to leave half way through if you note to 07s on the lake!

IOM Winter Series 2

What started at 10am in a very strong top suit turned quickly into B Rig and by the start of racing C Rig

The waves continued to build and after 5 races, a number of collisions and general lack of control of the yachts in the waves, abandoned

Ian Sinclair (Sedici) taking the victory pipping Olly Murray (Sedici).

Ian losing his jib and backstay in the final race. A good turnout, but a shame the wind became to wild and the waves increasing.

DF95 Winturn Shield Rnd 4

What a glorious day for sailing. Perfect sailing conditions with the wind down the lake allowing a full length, two lap course to be sailed under the guidance of the RO Derek.

To the racing and it was a dominant display by Mark with his Blue Dragon with 10 straight bullets making it a clean sweep of firsts.

Olly and Ian H filling the podium spots and overall there was some very well behaved, competitive sailing.

Again, a great turnout of 13, numbers will continue to grow in the coming weeks.
